We have a metal shed, which is 6 foot tall, by 6 wide by 4 deep. i researched carefully when putting this up in the garden but someone has pointed out to me that it needed planning permission where as i thought it did not. i did ring the planning dept when we put it up but have i got wrong information?. Garden sheds and planning permission. in most circumstances you wont need planning permission for your asgard shed - there are some exceptions such as in a conservation area (though we have had customers who have).. Whilst they typically wont require planning permission before construction can get underway, there are certain limits and conditions that need to be considered when looking for a garden shed permission: garden sheds and outbuildings must be one story, and eave heights cannot exceed 2.5 metres..
Planning permission is not required (permitted development) for a shed if you meet the following criteria.is located to the rear of the property (behind the front elevation or elevation that faces a road). it does not exceed 4 metres in height (3 metres to eaves).. Usually you do not need planning permission to erect a shed in your back garden. this rule of thumb applies generally to single-storey sheds with a floor space of less than 30 square metres.. Rules governing outbuildings apply to sheds, greenhouses and garages as well as other ancillary garden buildings such as swimming pools, ponds, sauna cabins, kennels, enclosures (including tennis courts) and many other kinds of structure for a purpose incidental to the enjoyment of the dwellinghouse..
